McDonald’s, one of the largest fast-food franchises, has reported drop down in sales after customers started complaining about unsatisfying service last year.

The company has tried different methods to deal with the situation, including a new CEO. It even created a new position to help cashiers and a new ordering system where customers order at one end of the counter and receive their burgers at another.

The fast-food giant, which has over 14,000 restaurants in the US alone, said one in five customer complaints from last year were for rude employees. Clients described McDonald’s personnel as unfriendly and slow.

As a result, last November the company’s same-store sales dropped for the first time in nine years.

The company continuously reevaluates its performance and tries different methods to increase customer satisfaction. McDonald’s management seeks feedback from customers and store owners alike.

Last year’s study shows that McDonald’s customer service was second to last in a study that compares customer service at fast-food chains. McDonalds had an average service time of 188.83 seconds, or 45.5% less than the industry leader Wendy’s.
